Local Area Information - Maidstone

The house is located right in the centre of Maidstone with it's lively cosmopolitan bars, cafes and shops.

Adjacent to the house and behind the museum can be found the lovely Brenchley Gardens and the river Medway is only a couple of minutes walk away.

Maidstone East railway station is a few minutes walk away, with trains to London and the Kent Coast, while a longer walk leads to Maidstone West, with trains up and down the Medway Valley. There are trains every 30 minutes to London and the journey takes about an hour.

Historic Maidstone is Kent's county town with an Archbishops Palace and nearby Carriage museum, Hazlitt theatre, town museum and art gallery and many other historic buildings.

The CAMRA pub of the year winner for Kent in 2016 is the quirky and friendly Rifle Volunteer in Union Street. Do visit it and the Flower Pot in Sandling Road - both friendly places with great beers.

Details of many local attractions, places of interest and walks (with maps) are provided.
